This link takes to you to a website that sells great books for kids with diabetics.

I have asked about this before and noone seems to have come up with anything--but what about children's books for kids whose *parents or caregivers* have diabetes? Nobody seems to consider that kids are curious and sometimes it is hard to work out how to explain issues at their level that satisfy them.

Default teaching about diabetes

The reason that there are no books directed towards this particular situatio is because when a person is diabetic the idea is to get the whole family involved. If you ahve never been to a diabeets managment meeting then you have no idea just how much the children are involved with learning.

Any of the childrens books about diabetes is good to use to teach because you or the parent or caregiver is supposed ot explain that what they are learning together is about him or her the adult with the condition.

Its not the target audienecce thats important its how you use the mnmaterials that are out there.
Now my daughter went online ot Starbright foundation and got a CD about diabetes that was interactive. She learned more about it because it was geared toward her age group, but she knew it was for her to help me.

So choose any childrens books and exp,ain that mommy/daddy/whomever has this and this is how we can learn wbout it... from there they absorb and often become better " police" the caregivers diabetes than we ever could ourselves.

I have only seem one example and it was specifically for the child to understand *their* condition. So She would end up thinking she had diabetes when she doesn't!

i think that is a fine idea to have books about diabeties for children. That makes things alot more easiar to deal with as far as explaining is concerned.
