Default Vitamins/Supplements

Has the doctor treating your diabetes suggested any particular supplements that you should be taking in addition to the meds?

I get a heavy emphasis on a complete diet with all nutirents, minerals and vitamins direct from the source. She is very down on 'short cuts' like fad diets or suppliments. So far I have not problem at all with that approach. I am happy to take treatments I need but I want my lifestyle to deal with the rest.

Default High Vitami9n B and Chromium Picolinate

A long time ago.. I conducted as part of research a clinical trial and study on teh effects of certain minerals on diabetes. what we disovered was astounding.
Since most diabetics have a high internal stress level a low count of B vitamins is often not addressed. So because certain B viatmins help to metabolize glucose and are in effect insulin sensitizers, high concentrrations of pure B vitamions combined with folic acid and biotin help to allow insulin and some oral or secreting antidiabetics work better.
It was further proven in teh next phase of clinical study that Diabetics do not convert Chromium picolinate and do not get enough of it to utilize and digest glucose and glycogens properly.
So we began a study using pure chromim picolinate. some of the subjects responded so well they were allowed to come off of their oral medications alltogether. But had to go back on when it was stopped verus those who receieved placebo who showed no effect.
For those who i have coiunseledf i always recommended Puritans Prided pure Chromium picolinate and High potency multiple Bs.
I can attest from my own experience that when I take high potency B and chromium I need less insulin, have less fatigue and ahve better outcome Bgs.

Very interesting study, Julie! I'm glad you posted it here and I
hope that it will help people to know that there are other
avenues in managing diabetes besides the "tried and true"
methods.

Since fall has arrived, I have been taking a chewable C each day. Hope it helps. Well, scratch that, I *bought* them and my daughter's doing well with remembering but I haven't remembered too many days. I really have to change that!

Default vitamin C!

I have found boosting vitamin C in chewable form is like a candy trteat. A bit tart but good. I never believed that they woldl work but they do lessen so much the severity of a cold and help to break down fat in the gut so it passes out instead o being stored. Great choice in remininding me to get a fresh bottle!

Well great to hear, then, and glad I could serve as a reminder. I like to have mine after dinner when I normally might get a craving for something else, too.

I like pink grapefruit with lite whole wheat toast for breakfast. I can't handle regular grapefruit, though.
