Default Alternative Thearapies

Hello. I am new to the forum. I have been a type II diabetic for about 3 years now. I have been taking insulin as well as oral medications with the same end results. Fasting blood sugars of 300 or more. About 2 months ago, I was introduced to a product called Vanadyl Sulfate, which is supposed to help regulate blood sugars. After about 3 weeks, I started noticing a decrease in my fasting sugar levels. I went to a doctor to have my meds renewed and told him of my good fortune with the Vanadyl Sulfate. He told me that in addition to the VS, I should be taking Chromium Picolonate and a relatively new product called Gymnema. I went to the health food store and got supplies of Chromium Picolonate and Gymnema and started taking them too, along with my insulin and other oral meds. For the past week and a half, my highest fasting sugar has been 182. This morning it was 109. I believe that within the next 6 months, I will be independent of my insulin and oral meds. I have not changed my eating habits or lost any weight to get these numbers down. It has all been done through the addition of the CP and Gymnema. I hope this post is of some help to someone. I believe the medical profession has known about this for sometime and doesn't want the general diabetic public to know. It would put a lot of people out of business.

This is very interesting. Does anyone know if there are any safety issues with these alternative therapies?

If these supplements have helped you, then I am happy for you. But it might still be useful to try and get your blood sugars down by changing your diet. If only to get more healthy, make sure your diet is as good as it can be.

If your blood sugars were always that high, you might have also been too worried or emotionally upset. It might also be a good idea to try biofeedback. That is a way to control your heartbeat and your worries and calm your blood sugars down.

I'm glad that you have found a way to get your numbers under control. Congratulations!

Does anyone know if these health food products would help a type 1 also?
