Default How Did You Find Out ...?

when you'd got diabetes?

Just wondering if most people had an idea or that the doc had sprung it on them out of the blue?

I'm not diabetic yet, but my father found out the morning I was to turn 18. He went into a coma and woke up diabetic. I believe he was 39 at the time.

The symptoms were there -- weight loss, excessive thirst, frequent urination. Tiredness. You get busy with your day and do not notice things, but when getting up in the middle of the night four or five times, that causes you to wonder what is going on.

My mother-in-law had all the symptoms except for the weight loss. She went to her doctor and asked to be tested for anything and everything and then he came back with the results.

I had all of these symptoms, but I did not know they were symptoms of diabetes. I told my doctor who I was seeing at the time and he did not even test me for diabetes. It wasn't until I switched doctors that we discovered that I had it.

When I was 7, I was told I had Borderline diabetes. Its like what your grandparents ahve but not quite.
You ahve to stay on a diet and exercise adn watch what you eat and take these shots and take these pills.

Every blood test came back diabetic, and teh shots every three months turned out to be insulin. I had juvenille aADULT ONSET CALLED modt|y AT 7. tHAT WAS 1967.

iN 2000 I ahd a diabetci abscess that almost took my leg. I was asked are you diabetic, I said nah.. but my family was so go ahead and poke. when labs came back I was at 407. I was diabetic. I was deliriously happy knowing that someone finally admitted it and began treatment. A shot of insulin and a shot of anesthesia and I was in lala land. I woke up and I was still happy embracing it.
