I was diagnosed diabetic in 1982. My mom was the first diabetic in her family and I was the second. My doctor thought I was a juvenile diabetic at first because I went into a honeymoon period for almost two years after diagnosis and my ketones were way high. But it came back again and was with me for decades.

I lost a lot of weight in 2003 and the diabetes is again dormant. I have good test results every time -- but then I still try to eat as healthy as I can and I am still deathly afraid of things going bad.
