I wish that I wasn't posting this now! My name is Joanne and I am recently diagnosed insulin resistant. I had gestational diabetes when I was carrying my first child, and was retested because of a few symptoms some months ago. My HbA1c was 7.3.

I am coping right now with just diet management and hope to keep it that way for as long as possible. My recent HbA1c came back at 5.7 and so I got the go ahead to stay of meds for a while, at least until this progresses which I assume it eventually will.

It's nice to see this place anyway, because I am sure I will have a ton of questions in the near future.

Thank you! I am seeing that there really is a ton of reading I need to do here already-after just a few days away there are two pages of new posts! I am really working hard on management through diet and exercise. It may be an impossible dream but if I can stay off meds for good, I would be a very, very happy person.
