Default Intro

Hello everyone, I am new to this group. My father has diabetes and I had borderline gestational diabetes with my first child who is now 13. I was monitered closely with her but did not have to alter my diet or take insulin. However with my second child, now 11 I had to moniter my bloodsuger every morning and closely keep track of my food intake. Both were born healthy (thank goodness) but I now have to have my blood tested once a year and be aware that I may develop diabetes down the road. Has anyone else been down this road.

My grandma has it and I had gestational twice. I had to take insulin both times and check blood sugars all day. My babies were big but did fine after their first bottle. I've been told I would have it later down the line but so far I'm 40 and I'm fine. My grandma didn't get it until she was 78. So I have hope I won't get it until then. My grandpa (RIP) had it bad. Leg amputated. My brother's 41 and tested for sugar in his urin at a check up.

So, yea, it runs through my family.

Nice to meet you!
