Default There Is

Ricky,

There is. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a week after having my tonsils out. I'm not aware of any info out there, but I know I was told that was the cause for me having to start insulin. I was going to have diabetes either way though.

Hi Ricky. Yes. Trauma, illness, and stress are all commonly viewed as "triggers" of diabetes.

Of course there are other triggering factors and genetics involved (if you have Type 1 diabetes you would have most likely gotten it anyway, but something else would have been the trigger), but what you describe is not uncommon.

Take a look at the boards and feel free to ask questions!

Take care!
