Default calculating doseage R

To calculate a doseage of R you have to realize R means Rapid. Its onset works in about 15-30 minutes which is different than N which can begin in 1 hour-2 hours after injection.
So often we see combinations like 70/30 and so on.

But for straight R we have to use the sliding scale. That is based on what your glucose reading is.
You only need a little of R to work effectively.

On average between 4-10 Units are given prior to a heavy carb meal. So if you know you are going to eat at Olive Garden you can take a pre shot of 10 units based on what your reading was at the restaurant to cover how much you eat.

This is called Bolusing.

R is also used to bring down from illness and sudden highs.
There are a few sliding scale charts that are handy to have.
Also, every diabetic is supposed to have at least 1 vial of R for when they are ill, as oral mediations do not work effectvely when sick.

so we are introduced to the shot at an early date.
