When I was first diagnosed officially I was gven the lifescan Profile.
Its whole blood reading and takes a lot of blood. But its accurate enough to adjust insulin.
I had an LXN incharge system that went everywehere with me. It did two tests fructosamine and plasma. When they recalled it i refused to send it back.
But it took a while ot find a meter that I liked. I had gotten a freestyle and liked it but i wasnt too crazy about teh shape. but it was accurate. I maganed ot get a free QID and it was always off by alittle bit. then I saw and ad in at teh Precision website to upgrade your QID to an Xtra.
So that one gets used.
I like it because its accurate with lab and A1C. its also lightweight and quick and tiny amount of blood and backlit for nighttime readings. Top fill so it cataches blood instead of hit or miss blood application.
this one I panic if I misplace it. It went hiking with me and kept me accurate during teh trek and wasnt bothere dby heat or humidity or even getting sprinkled on.
My profile is not heat tolerant and its bulky. Its a great backup unit though.
