Default Managing diabetes

How do you manage your diabetes? Do you use diet control, pills or the needle?

Default Self managment Proactive

I use it ALL!

I use bas insulin Lantus, I use R when going above 170 to prevent ketones, I use Actos to get the most from my exercise and insulin. I take massive amounts of vitamins. I take Diovan and I am supposed ot take zetia but it aggrivates my Gastric paresis.I exercise of some sort everyday.
I enjoy my diet.
I test 4 times day, and get plenty of sleep.
This is called: agressive Proactive self managment.

My mother in law has it. When she was first diagnosed all she had to do was watch her diet. Now she is taking pills, and watching her diet. Hopefully she will never have to have the needle.

Default About the Pills

Pills..
Its a hard lesson to learn but the fact is every Diabetic will eventually ahve to have insulin.
Sulfonylureas, like glucotrol are called secretors. the cause the pancreas to secret more insulin. The problem is Pancreatin exhai\ustion and pancrease failure.
Pills of this nature are ony good for about 5 years. After that a trend is seen in teh glucose levels of teh pateint as they begin to rise.
The normal reaction is to increase doseage which just aggrivates and causes a faster collapse of the pancrease cells.

Metformins( glucophage) prevent the liver from excreting glycogen. A super concentrated for mof glucose needed for adrenalaine support as well. So lets say you dont feel like eating and you are on Metformin, the body woudl be deependining on the glycogen,, now it doesnt ttget it and your body collapses.
This drug has also been linked to severe reacions and cardiac arrest, liver damage.

The glitizones work differently. Actos for example make sthe muscles more reactive to the insulin teh body produces and glucose that is metabolized. So Actos on long term is a good thing. Its affectiveness ahs been documented for 15 years. Sicne its not acting on teh pancrease its acts on teh use of the products on teh boidy it can enhances glusoe and glycogen use.

However Actos must not be used with metformins as the glucose levels are severly depleted. This drug is used primarily with those begining Brittle.
