I can honestly say I have done both I come from along line of diabetics. I ahve seen every generation accept it, not be angry and embrace the changes.
My great grandparents were from teh Steppes, and in teh 1950s when they were Dxd there wasnt much to use but diabanese and insulin.
But the change in diet was welcome. So they embraced that change. they ate better and lived ot a ripe old age.
My grandparents too embraced it. They wer ein tehir 40s when they were told. again accepting it as they accepted graying hair and older age. It became part of them.
I had one uncle that just didnt care and so he refused to take meds and would up betting cutapart.
But my father, his younger brother and I, too accepted is as the same as our eye color.
when I was young, 7, I was told I was borderline.Little did I know that I had full blown diabetes back them but i wasnt given trteatment exept for thyroid medication and a new diet.
I can see where there is great misunderstanding on how to handle it. Many doctors are not adept at it. and they cause panic and sitrust. failing to give the pateint ALL of teh information that si available.
As I see here many of the users are not even i teh know about teh fact we as diabetics can do everything, we can eat everything, and we can be ourselves. |
