 Movies, TV and Diabetes
It's the 21st Century and TV and movies still don't have any characters that have diabetes, or when there is someone who has it, they still just do the same old stuff about them fainting and then people would get orange juice into them. Or have I missed some show or movie somewhere?
I still remember a show where a guest star played a man with diabetes who passed out. The star of the show then tried to get orange juice into his mouth and then even half cooked some meat and tried to push it down his throat. That not only wasn't funny to me, but it showed the public the exact wrong thing to do with an unconscious person! Pushing food down his throat could have killed him all by itself by choking him.
I don't see, with so many people getting and having diabetes in today's world, why TV and movies don't have any people playing someone with diabetes in a decent representation of what our lives are like. I know that having diseases on shows isn't exactly upbeat, but there are people with all sorts of ills written into shows. Why not diabetes?  |
