Default Boarderline and predisposed

Why all these confusing words? Yesterday my spous wa told his insulin levels "were creeping upwards" at ech check up and that he was boarderline at being diabetc.

About six months ago my kid's doctor said because of family istory he was"predisposed" to becoming diabetic.

Both doctors recommending diets made for diabetics, but we really didn't get any good information, an Im not sure what to think.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

This reminds me of a friend of mine who was diagnosed with diabetes, but after a year or so, he was questioning the diagnosis. I wonder if he was borderline, too?

My understanding would be that your spouse and kid are both "predisposed" to diabetes because of heredity. Is that possible?

I assume that some people who are "borderline" could control their insulin levels with diet, but I have no idea how tough that would be. Does that make sense?

BAck in 1962-1964 Borderline was really the Politically correct way of saying that you are showing diabetes symptoms, but maybe we can help you with diet.
I was DXd back in 1964, when my doctor told my mom and dad that I was " borderline". However that was not true, I found out after I reciebved copies of my records before the doctor died that I was full blown diabetic back then.

Borderline is still a great phrase. More so than Metabolic syndrom or other terms that dramatoze but not shock the person into taking care.

I am now type 1, complete pancreatic failure.
Predisposed means you ahve teh markers for it.
Iam 16th generation diabetic, The earliest to be Dxd.
What using teh term borderline did for me for a majorityof my life was make me watch my diet so carefully and get exercise.
Of course mysterius shots every three months, blood tests every three months kepta check to make sure I didnt rise too much. Back then numbers had different meaning and anything below 185 was good.
now we know better.

I think any term trhat makes aperson realize that whats going on could turn worse unless they get proactive is great!
