Default Signs you may be diabetic

Signs and symptoms of diabetes include:

Frequent urination.
Always being thirsty or hungry.
Often feeling tired.
Blurred vision.
Slow wound healing.
Recurring urinary tract infections.
Obesity.

If you think you are at risk, consult your doctor. Just because you are not over weight does not mean you are not susceptible.

For me it was the frequent urination and the always thirsty. It seemed like I couldn't get enought to drink even though it wasn't hot out or I hadn't been doing anything like working out. I went to the dr. and sure enough I had become diabetic.

I noticed my sleep patterns were changing due to weird snacking. And i felt weirdly non-hungry when I knew I should eat and too hungry other times I knew I shouldn't be. Liked sugary drinks all of a sudden too very out of character for me.

And I considered it a real problem to go anywhere because i knew in advance i'd need to use a bathroom more than once during a trip or meeting with a friend.

All too often, some of the symptoms are ignored. Some people do not have the symptoms, either.

I had a friend who discovered she was a diabetic only after she went into a diabetic coma. Of course, I can only take her word for it that she didn't have any symptoms, but many people do ignore the warning signs. It's human nature.

That's why consulting with a doctor is best. They can separae out the strands of symptoms. But being in bad physical condition can mask a lot. So try to be fit. If you get x amount of exercise with y results, the doctor needs to factor that into what's going on.

Well, despite being skinny, I seem to get tested for it every time I go to the docs.
I think it's because I do the thirsty/urinating thing, but luckily enough I've never tested positive yet.

It does go to show though, that the obesity thing could throw us off the scent a little.

Obesity and diabetes don't always go hand in hand, it could just be a contributing factor.

Also, two of the thinnest people I know are also diabetics. So, it's not just for obese people.

my husband's grandmother used to yell at him that if he had "sticky urine" that he'd be diabetic - of course, he's not but there's a lot of urban myths out there that may add to the confusion.

for my dad it was ... he became ill, thought it was the flu and could only eat sweets, he started losing LOTS of weight and thought he'd discovered a form of a new diet. Instead he became a full-blown diabetic.
