Default Top Advice?

Having been through diabetes yourself, what is the number one piece
of advice that you would give someone newly diagnosed? Would you
tell them that watching food intake is most important? Or something
like checking your numbers often? Maybe something totally different?

Default Being diabetic

I ahve ben diabetic ll of my life and most recently on medication. The biggest piece of advice.. DONT PANIC.
MAny newb diaebtics feel hopelesa nd helpless. HAving alot of old wivestales and myths abound plus oodles of false information.

Getting to a diabets treatment center adn getting to the information will displell and lessen the blow and help you cope. Also reaching out to a buddy with it is an easy way to cope.

Families should always be involved since diabetes does not affect just one person it affects everyone in the house.

So dont panic.. is the biggest piece I could offer.

The biggest piece of advice I would think to give would be to have a strong support system surrounding you. Be it friends or family or other diabetics and rely only on information that you know to be true.
