Default Companies That Support Diabetes Research

I'm not aware of a list that shows corporations/people supporting Diabetes research, but I'll start one now so we can support them in return. Please add to the list with as much detail as possible. Thanks!

AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys initially funded the JNN Foundation. He wanted to help the community that had given so much to him. He funded the JNN Foundation, to help programs, such as VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Lisa Merlin House.

Outback Steakhouse - This football season, Outback Steakhouse and John Madden are hitting the road together in the Outback Steakhouse Madden Cruiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

John Madden, former National Football League (NFL) player and coach, and the nation's premier broadcast analyst for NFL games, will be on Capitol Hill on Thursday, December 6, 2007, to meet with Members of Congress to discuss the critical need for an increase in federal funding for diabetes research. Coach Madden will ask the House and Senate to renew the Special Diabetes Program (HR 2762 and S. 1494) this year. If the program is not renewed, federal support for type 1 diabetes research will be cut by 35%.

Business Bank of Nevada announced that it has donated over $6,000 to the Nevada Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and its annual Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising events recently held in Reno and Las Vegas. The money donated by the Bank was comprised of a corporate donation, branch and department sales of the ever-popular JDRF Sneakers, and employee pledges.




Amylin Pharmaceuticals is supporting ADA’s Research Foundation through the Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award (DCSA), which is ADA’s most prestigious research award aimed specifically at clinical programs. The award is the largest annual award given by the Association and recognizes outstanding scientists who have advanced the field of patient-oriented diabetes research. Amylin also supports the printing of the final program at ADA’s Annual Scientific Sessions, the largest diabetes conference in the world.



Eli Lilly is supporting ADA's Youth Program and the WIZDOM Youth kits for children and parents affected by diabetes. The company is also a sponsor of "Inspired By Diabetes," an international art contest; and is providing scholarships to support underprivileged children at ADA's Camp Program. Eli Lilly also supports ADA's Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative, which is designed to educate consumers and healthcare practitioners about preventing type 2 diabetes and heart disease. The company also supports ADA's Outstanding Educator and Outstanding Clinical Scientists awards, which are presented each year at the ADA's Annual Scientific Sessions.


Merck & Company is supporting ADA’s efforts to educate clinicians about improving diabetes care through a physician self-assessment program. The company also supports ADA’s Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative, which is designed to educate consumers and healthcare practitioners about reducing risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Merck is supporting ADA’s efforts to examine the relationship between hemoglobin A1C levels and average blood glucose. Support for this research is important as it could lead to a new measure of diabetes care that ADA believes will improve patient understanding of blood glucose control. The company is a patron sponsor of ADA’s Annual Scientific Sessions, the largest diabetes conference in the world.



Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation is a National Charter Sponsor of ADA’s I Decide To Fight Diabetes campaign, which is designed to inspire people about making healthier lifestyle choices. This support is helping the Association further its community outreach programs to reach at-risk Latino and African-American communities. Novartis is also a supporter of the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control.



Novo Nordisk is supporting ADA’s efforts to fund two important clinical research awards designed to improve patient outcomes by way of behavioral and educational approaches and methodologies. The company’s support of ADA’s “Safe at School” campaign is helping the Association improve the care of children with diabetes in the school setting. Novo Nordisk is also providing support for an ADA-sponsored study to establish worldwide screening standards for people with diabetes. The company is also a supporter of the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control.



Pfizer supports ADA’s Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative, which is designed to educate consumers and healthcare practitioners about risk factors for preventing type 2 diabetes and heart disease. In conjunction with ADA’s Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative, Pfizer is supporting ADA’s efforts to pilot a diabetes screening program in minority populations. Pfizer is a patron sponsor of ADA’s Annual Scientific Sessions, the largest diabetes conference in the world.



sanofi-aventis supports ADA’s Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative, which is designed to educate consumers and practitioners about risk factors for preventing type 2 diabetes and heart disease. The company is a sponsor of the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control. Sanofi also supports ADA’s Feria de Salud, an outdoor community-based event intended to reach thousands of Latinos/Hispanics with the important messages about diabetes risk.



Takeda Pharmaceuticals is a supporter of some important ADA-funded research grants such as the ADA-Takeda Pharmaceuticals Cardiovascular Complications in Diabetes Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the ADA-Takeda Pharmaceuticals Beta Cell Postdoctoral Fellowship. Takeda supports ADA’s Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative, which is designed to educate consumers and healthcare practitioners about preventing type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Takeda’s contributions also go to support ADA’s ongoing efforts to educate health professionals about the latest research in diabetes through its sponsorship of ADA’s Abstracts on CD-ROM, which are distributed to attendees of the ADA’s Annual Scientific Sessions, the largest diabetes conference in the world.



Through support from the Abbott Foundation, ADA is able to enhance its community outreach efforts in the Latino population. Abbott Diabetes Care is supporting the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control. The company is also supporting ADA’s efforts to examine the relationship between hemoglobin A1C levels and average blood glucose. Baxter Healthcare is helping ADA expand its educational programming in the African American community by supporting the development of a module on kidney disease and diabetes for Project POWER, ADA’s community and faith-based program. The company is also providing a grant to support a research project being conducted by ADA and the National Committee For Quality Assurance (NCQA). This research project looks at the feasibility of developing a new health efficiency measure for the cost and output of healthcare.



Bayer HealthCare is supporting the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control. Bayer is also providing support for an ADA-sponsored study to establish worldwide screening standards for people with diabetes. BD Diabetes Care is supporting ADA’s research activities through the Henry Becton Innovation Award, which supports clinical research in the areas of medical informatics in direct patient therapy; advanced methods of insulin delivery’ and innovative approaches to diabetes education. The company also supports ADA’s CAMP program for youth with diabetes.



GlaxoSmithKline’s support is helping the ADA to study average blood glucose as a potential new measure of diabetes control. The company supports Shaping America’s Health, the strategic obesity prevention initiative of the American Diabetes Association.

GlaxoSmithKline is a patron sponsor of the Scientific Sessions, the world’s largest diabetes meeting.



LifeScan is supporting ADA’s efforts to educate clinicians about improving diabetes care through its sponsorship of an annual supplement to the ADA publication, Diabetes Care. Through the company’s support, clinicians are able to receive a CD-ROM featuring all of the ADA’s clinical practice recommendations. LifeScan is also supporting the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control.



Roche is supporting the Diabetes Care Coalition, a collaboration between ADA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Ad Council to improve awareness of A1C, a measure of blood glucose control. The company also supports the Association’s efforts to reach health professionals about its membership program.

what a great list, I will be sure to watch for more to add here. Are there any groups that sponsor teams to run marathons?
