Default Wedding Favors

I was reading some diabetes fundraising information and came across a really neat idea. In lieu of traditional wedding favors, give a donation in honor of your wedding guests and in honor or in memory of a loved one. If you are a diabetic or someone in your wedding party this would be a really neat way to honor those people. Favors and table decorations cost a good penny anyway why not spend it toward a really good cause. I just thought I would pass it along as it is summer and the prime months for weddings. Has anyone ever been to a wedding that has done this? I just thought it was a really unique idea, and it goes to a great cause.

I think it might be a good idea in lieu if favors, since people tend to grab those and throw them in a drawer==they're frequently a waste of money.

Sometimes people really need them. My friend used to cater weddings and one morning she showed up and the person with all the white azaleas and roses had...nothing. They hadn't ordered any thing ahead of time.
That's when a huge carton of bagged wedding favors in someone's garage can really come up handy.

I would guess then ask the wedding people to make a donation to ada or something?

My definition of favors are the little gifts that the guests receive and take home with them, not the flowers/decorations.

These days there is a much greater use of donations in place of pointless gifts. Another example is if you are having a baby shower or wedding and are already really well set up and don't need the usual diapers and toasters--ask for dinations in the baby's name or instead of gifts. To not arrive empty handed guests bring a card with thier best wishes and a print out of their donations (see other people see if they were cheap)

I also have seen people including a card with their wedding invitations asying no gifts, and listing various charities they support in people want to contribute.

Donating something in someone's name may result in the charity providing a certificate that can be given to the wedding folk
