Default Swollen Ankles & High BP

I suppose some folks here may be medicated for high blood pressure, so I thought I'd mention that my doctor recently told me one of the BP pills I was on had the side effect of causing swollen ankles.

I believe the one he was referring to was Adalat, but I hadn't noticed swollen ankles in my experience.

Is anybody here taking Adalat?

You are correct in saying that Adalat has a side effect of making the patient have swollen ankles, although only 10% of the population who takes Adalat will experience any side effects, and the intensity will also vary. Some may become dizzy while others may get depressed.

But thats the risk with any other drug right?

I think that there are many side effects involved with most drugs.

Apparently there's a new blood pressure drug that has less or maybe no side effects called Rasilez.

Default diovan helps

My doctor had me on an ace inhibitor, Diovan, or Monopril. I get these Rubberbands around my ankles. Its filled with ascites fluid. SO they put me on Diovan to help get rid of it. Concensus of Opinion is thatonce ankles begin to swell they ussually look into kidney profusion.
I found that Midol does a good job of getting rid of the excess.
They also found thats oem foods and beverages will trigger leg, ankle or hand swelling even with the use of any BP/ACE drug.
Coffee, Iced tea mix, Soda, Grapefuit juice.

I went off of Diovan switched to MIdol PMS or Dewitts and Diurex. all OTC and work.
I also avoid excessive amounts of certain foods and beverages to prevent.. usually along day on my feet and I need to pop a pill to remove pooling fluid.....
