What kind of lotion or cream do you use for your feet?
My feet are pretty awful looking, and I guess its from the diabetes. Is there a special kind of cream you can use on your feet if you're diabetic? Is it the diabetes that makes them so dry, or is that from some of my other health issues?
Ultimate Aloe! Ultumate Aloe! I swear this is the best food cream out there and it is safe for diabetics! It is expensive, but I swear it works! My husband uses it, and I am trying to get my mother in law to use it, but she is stubborn.
Aloe is wonderful stuff, I agree. It's good for almost anything. I also like Aquaphor, which is thick and looks like petroleum jelly, but absorbs much quicker.
I don't know about the toes thing, Joanne, but some people find that they are allergic to lanolin based creams and actually seek out paraffin based products.
Lanolin is derived from animals, sheep I think, and it can cause problems.
My mother has good luck with adding pure lavender essential oil to her lotions. It didn't matter what lotion. Her very dry, cracked feet healed up overnight with the lavender added. If you buy lavender oil, be sure to get one that says pure essential oil. A small bottle can run about $30, but you only use 3-4 drops with the lotion on each foot.
If you can't afford a bottle of aloe for whatever reason. It's ok! Just purchase you a small tub of aloe cream and some vasoline/petroleum jelly and whenever you get ready to oil your feet, mix the two.
I hate to be the barrier of bad news, but Petroleum Jelly is not a good source to use for skin conditioning. The molecules are too large to fully penetrate into your skin, most of it evaporates out. This actually might be a good thing, considering that petroleum jelly is made from crude oil and this type of oil is not good for your skin.
