Default Little Bit is Always Better Than Nothing

Many people will skip an exercise program because they do not hav ethe time to exercise. What most people do not realize that a five minute exercise program is better than zero minutes. And those short exercise periods add up over time! Food for thought

It's amazing how long doctors were telling people that unless you went for half and our at full tilt it counted for nothing! Of course it is still true that the best exercise gets you heart rate up for a while--but anything at all helps with muscles and joints.

There are lots of way to slip just a little more activity in, like walking down stairs rather than taking the lift--or walking for any errands within about three miles (or whatever fits for you) of home...

This is very true! At this point just 5 minuets is enought to get my heart rate up a little and that is what it is all about anyways. I am working towards a goal of 1/2 at a time but I am so out of shape that I am taking baby steps.

that's why a lot of people don't even start - they figure they have to do a half hour a day or nothing, so they'd rather do nothing than make the time...

but still, more is better.

Yup, I agree. We all have to start somewhere and five minutes of running is better than nothing.

At first I didn't want to start running because I could only run for two minutes but then I started and eventually can run for thirty minutes now.

Default Clinical study

A few years back there was a clinical study on exercise benefits. The study found that even doing strreatches at your desk is beneficial.
Another part of the study showed that three 10 minute exercise sessions during the day helped to mainatin BG levels and gave incentive to not eat junk foods and actually you get more out of a series of short any type of exercises periods during teh day than cramming all of it into a 30-45 minute workout three times a week.
I fo on go snorkeling every afternoon if possible. and if not we do soemthing else, like biking or walking or something else

in any case a littlew all day long is better than skipping at all.

This is so very true. It took me a while to internalize it, but there's no need to get through the *whole* aerobics video when I'm doing that... I just have to do as much as I can! I definitely need to remember that more often!

A little bit is definetly better than nothing. When first starting out, do short little rountines until your body is used to it. Then continously build up the time that you are able to do it. After a while, you will be doing the 30 min a day and it won't feel like it and you won't get discouraged as quickly.

Another thing that I need to remind myself is that I should do the warm-ups even if I'm just planning on doing a little bit of the actual routine.
