Using the incline is the equivalent to running uphill, for me at least. It really burns and works out the calves. It also gets my heart beating in a short time and is more challenging which equals more fun.

Default I've done that

I've done that inclination before and almost killed myself lol. I can't do it. I just get so tired so fast and it burns my legs or my calves rather. But hey I guess if thats the part of the body you are trying to work on then do what you need to do.

I know this would happen to me, too. I climbed a mountain (well just a small one, but still!) once just for something to do and there was *such* pain in my legs for the next few days, it was hard to function.

Default small things to look out for

Pain is a sign that something can be wrong as well as well.
Diabetics have got o be careful not to stress too much at first and build up to what they want.

Pain is a way for your body to tell you something is wrong or you have worked to hard. Small aches or an exhausted feeling s what your after, not pain.

Pain can mean st5ress fractures, shin splints, Diabetic physiology dictates that we are compromised. We are not as quick to heal and often we have a high mineral deficiency. So bone stress fractures are common.
Lactic acidosis is another consideration. When glucose is not used properly in the muscles, gasses and enzymes build up and cause muscle problems and pain.
Always be careful when using weights that are to heavy, and in using a stair machine be careful that the pounds measure for force is not set too high. If you have to force full push down on the machine it is set too high. This can cause wear down on hip and knee joints, cause muscles to buckle and cramp, and create small stress fracture.

I personally think that it adds a better challenge to your work instead of doing it the easy and simple way.

I agree to a certain extent about challenges being good... but for some people, it could turn out to be harmful to their health, as the other post indicated. In my own case it was just overexertion and not fractures or anything.

Default Incline stair steppers

Being ahiker these are wonderfult o get in shape for long day hikes up steep inclines. I find that I peter out more on a stepper than an actual hike.
It also makes butts look nice.
According to the Presidents challeneg abotu 15 minutes are the optimum to prevent cramping and muscle fatigue.
