Default Illegal Foods?

The US government is starting to bring out legislation to make a whole bunch of foods illegal. Everything from foie gras, which is banned both because it's bad for the eater's health and bad for the poor geese and ducks who are force fed, to Ortolan, which are small, endangered songbirds which bring a $10,000 fine if one is caught hunting them in France. These small birds are roasted whole and eaten that way, bones and all, while the diner covers his head with a linen napkin. Some say that is to preserve the precious aromas but the custom might also come from shame for eating the little song bird whole.

They are also making beluga caviar, wild mushrooms, live lobsters, Brie de Meaux, (because it's made with raw milk, declared illegal here in the US) jamon iberico, That's because Spain, unlike some other European countries, does not have a single slaughterhouse that has yet been certified by the USDA. )

You might not even be able to buy a rare hamburger here anymore because the government has declared that all meat has to be heated to 160 degrees at the minimum to kill bad bacteria.

I can totally understand not eating foods that are made in a cruel way, but when you get down to it, all meats and fish get on your table through an act of cruelty -- killing.

Should it be up to anyone other than your conscience to tell you what to eat? Should the US government get involved if you want to eat some cheese made with bacteria, the way that any really good cheese has always been made?

About a year ago there was an issue in Toronto about raw milk, I think.

The chefs from some high end restaurants spoke out in favour of local dairy farmers who were selling unpasteurized milk, if I'm not mistaken.

As a afrmer we have loads of rules to go by. And the USDAS is a good branch to really work with.
What toomany places are doing is over working a dwindling population. Such as stuffed goose liver is cruel in theh way its done. so they want to stop the practice of forcing a fatted goose liver. Thats not to say that standard froigras is not allowed. its justa maore natural process, more time consuming and a rare item. and the Goose is used rather than being tossed.

Raw milk is justa nother problem that ahs recently arisen because of disease that has created, progatead and panics over. Think about it, if raw milk is so bad for you,. how come we are here today. Thats all that was available...... Thats why we are getting a cow. Fresh butter, fresh milk, homemade cheese........I want a miniature one though.......
What the local office is saying is too many back carried bacteria are being found in milk because of human contamination than in years past....

Beluga caviar i can se ethe ban.. our world is getting smaller and what do we gain by overdoing the killing of them.. gee salmon egg caviar is just as good..

so yeah some foods should be illegal for a host of reasons and most reasons are valid on all points.......

And many foods can be had locally and witrh some reason.
