Talking How To Not Snack

If you find yourself dying for a snack at any time of the day and you know it won't be anything healthy, pop a Listerine Pocketpaks breath freshener into your mouth.

Buy it to give you fresh breath, but be sure to use it when you want to eat anything and you know you shouldn't. The main reason is that, although your mouth and breath taste and smells great, everything tastes terrible after you dissolve it in your mouth.

It's much easier and more convenient than brushing your teeth where the toothpaste makes all food taste bad. It comes in 4 great tasting flavors, but I find that a cinnamon strip does the job best of all.

There's no way you can eat anything as long as you still taste the Listerine!

That is a great idea. I can see how that strategy would work for a short while. It is along the same lines as of my strategy's for not snacking.

Chewing gum will help you not to snack. Reasoning is your mouth is busy and you are gaining constant tasting sensations. Gum comes in the cinnamon flavor if you prefer, but for the bad testing food I would say the spearmint.

Those are interesting methods.

I've heard that some people drink a glass of water and find that filling.

Maybe that's more for dealing with hunger, I guess.

N Many people snack for a number fo reasons:
hunger, false hunger, boredom, bruxism.
TRue hunger is when all you think about is food, you feel the effects of needing to eat., like ultimate distraction etc.

fals hunger is the " noshy" or snack mode. you want something but nnot sure.
Boredom is eating for something to do, your not hungry and your not noshy.

Bruisxism is where the jaw needs to move or it grinds and clamps down.

I found that coffee, and waterw ith special K water additive gives me fiber and protein, so if i was really hungry it would curb it for a while and if i were just noshy its healthy.

here is what I do: walk into teh kitchen a\nd say to myself:
are you hungry. if i can turn around and walk out and not feel anything, then i wasnt hungry and i didnt want a snack.
If i walk back in i grab an enhanced water, if that didnt stop i woudl grab a bowl of salad with egg and cheese.
I have two fav snacks as well:
a Flatout flat bread with three slices of turkey and Wishbone spritz
salad

i dont actualy prevent from noshing i talk to myself a lot

That is a great way of putting it. I think I might try that. I know how it is when you brush your teeth. I can't drink or eat anything afterwards, So I know after popping a listernine stick, you are bound to experience the same outcome.

Default Listerine makes me run for a drink

I found my teeth become overly sensitive from listerine., which leads me back to the kitchen for a warm drink....... or something to stop the burn........

I mention the Listerine strips because they work the best for me.

When I am on a diet, I know that there are some times when I suddenly feel hungry and will be going off to get something to eat, healthy or not, in a moment. I used the Listerine to give me the few minutes it takes to have those hunger pangs get controllable or to go away.

Some people try having a sucking candy or suck on a cinnamon stick, so as not to eat anything with more calories. I always found myself taking multiple candies so that didn't work. The Listerine strip did work because it's not tasty or something youl'd eat for fun. You'd never take two of those!

That's why I said that this works to stop snacking.

If you are totally hungry, lusting after that tooth chewing sensation for food, then check your blood sugars. You might need food!

Both my father and I go for sugarless gum, always have some in my bag. Snacking is a valid problem and we are dealing with it constantly.

I also find it is a lot easier to avoid the snacking if there are not any snacks in the house, or in view. If they aren't there you can't eat them, right?

Default snacking and family

if theer are no snacks in eth house and yoru theonly one, thats easy. But when you ahve a family, we have always felt it was a noble cause to join in, but in reality thats very unfair. Willpower is what should be a goal so that youc na be around thso etempting treats.
If you cant do that then snack smart.........

Default Good Foods Can Be Snack Too

Sometimes even good foods can become a foolish snack when you are in that moment of lust to eat something!

Slices of a loaf of whole grain bread can become a 300 calorie snack mistake in a moment. Cottage cheese can be made into a snack and if you are on a regulated diet, then it can pull you off course too. Tuna fish can be a bad snack, any leftovers can too. Even fruit can ruin a good day of dieting if you have that urge to fill your face and damn the calories!

Sometimes all you need are a few minutes of calm breathing to get you over that feeding frenzy feeling. I use the breath strips because it works for me. I can't even think of having anything that will combine well with that Listerine taste. UGH!
