Default Basmati Rice?

I love Basmati rice but I was wondering how many carbs it has as opposed to nutritional value. I suspect that brown rice is a better choice.

Does anyone here know?

It depends on what type of rice you are eating, is it white or brown, they carry different amounts of carbs in them.

Even aside from the carb value, I generally thought that brown rice had more nutrition till I heard someone say that Basmati was very good for you, too.

It's white, tastes very good and is very aromatic.

So I was hoping that was correct.

I think it is just as nutritional as the brown rice we are used to eating here in the States, but I have heard it being recommended to diabetics because it has a medium glycemic level. My uncle uses it and my aunt prepares it for him.

Personally I think it tastes better than regular rice anyway.

I agree that it tastes better than ordinary white rice.

It's very aromatic as it's cooking. I think it makes the kitchen smell like almonds.

Actually white rice is the best type of rice and is the hardest to grow. From a traditional Chinese perspective, white rice is has the most taste and crunch if you know what I mean. Brown rice is usually disliked for its bad flavor but valued for its traditional value.
But because we are talking carbs, white rice is not a good choice for a healthy diet whereas brown rice is LOW in carbs since it is a whole grain

And how about Jasmine rice? I hear it tastes very good too, but I haven't tried it.

I assume because it's white, it wouldn't be a low carb choice either?

Yes

I believe that Jasmine rice isn't very good if you are carb counting. But it does taste quite good and smells really good as well.

Although the only rice good for your carbs is brown rice, the only drawback is the taste, although some people might prefer the taste of it anyway.

I don't have any problem with the taste of brown rice. My wife and I were once on some kind of a diet and that's when we first bought it.

Since then I've tried black rice, which I found a little harsh tasting and heavy.

Black rice?

Depending on which type of black rice you are talking about, I don't think black rice is supposed to be eaten as a supplement to any meal.

I mean that its only used to cook along with certain types of foods for a good taste and not something you would eat with BBQ chicken or something.
