Default A1C/ fructosamine levels

A1C is supposed to be the proven ground for the past three months on how well you are in control.
New standards are bouncing from 5.8 to 7.0
Many of the NDEP and CDC guideds maintain anything under 7 is good and considered in control.
So what are your numbers?

Try to kee that A1C as low as possible, without throwing yourself into insulin reactions all the time. The lower the A1C, the better control you have over your diabetes. It gets so discouraging when you think your A1C is going to be below 7 and then your doctor calls and tells you that it is a 9. What a bummer.

Default I know why my A1c

I know why my a1c was high. I had noi insulin. I lost my insurance and I could not not afford meds. So I think based on that I did rather well. Just on diet and extrreme exercise.

Default When A1Cs wont go down

When A1C levels wont go down to at least a 7. then one has to get more agressive., if you are a diet only control situation then a review of teh diet and seeing what is in your food diary has to be gone over. usually theintroduction of an oralmedication. If you are on oral meds then an elevated A1C means that your medications ahve stopped owrking. IN any case elevated A1C means that glucoselevels are still sufocating cells and causing damage. Your doctor shoud become more agressive in his treatment and you shoudl become twice as agressive in carb counting and other supportive measures. "Check more often, keep alog book of before meal glucose, foods and the post meal post prandial glucsoe reading to see of it could be the foods are triggering highs. See if the meds, if you are ony are actually working
elevations are ususally the first sign that meds are either needed oreed to be switched.

Congrats! Way to go!!!!

The best A1c I have had was 6.5. I normally am in the 7.0-7.2 range. I am Type 1 and prone to severe lows (VERY insulin sensitive), so this is the safest range for me.

Congrats again!!!! That really shows how much your hard work paid off!
