I recently ordered a Flexsite A1C test from it's website. You put a couple drops of blood on a card & send it to the lab & get your results a couple weeks later. In March I had one done at the Drs. & came out 6.2. I took the Flexsite test on July 9 & the results came back at 7.0. Since I have no health insurance & my Dr. wants paid cash for me to walk in the door this is a cheap way of keeping track of my A1C. That is, as long as it's accurate. Does anyone know the accuracy of these home tests compared to going to the Drs.?

From my understanding, I infer that A1c tests are quite accurate and indicated extremely accurate glycated hemoglobin levels. Although this is only my opinion and you shouldn't take my word for it .

I would be curious as to what th other members say but its best to ask a professional for more details.

At my last checkup I asked my Doctor & he said he thought as long as I ordered from a reputable company these tests were as accurate as coming in to the office for it.

Just like what I thought, A1C test are quite accurate. This could save patients alot of time getting to and from the office!

I have been told that the A1c is the most accurate. I have them done every 3 months. thank you for letting me know that you can order them on line.

When I didn't have any medical coverage I used those home kits for my A1C tests and, as long as you get it from a good ******** or online place, they are great.

Shop for the best price you can and get enough for a few tests. It's a wonderful way to check on how well you are really doing.

I remember how proud I was to bring in my tests to my doctor. They all were from 5.2 to 5.7 and they proved to me that all my hard work in losing some weight worked to help get me healthy.

I use Biosafe, American Diagnostics are the ones that I use all teh time., Biosafe being CLIA waived and lab confirmed, since it goe sto a major seems to coorberrate.

JD, I've seen you write this before and tried to look it up but no go. What does "CLIA waived" stand for and mean?
