Default I feel like a pin cushion!

I test usually once every 2 hours, and every time I feel like I am swinging high or low very quickly. Which is more often than I'd like! When I'm out of range I just feel "sick", and sometimes highs and lows feel the same, so I test each and every time.

Default new meter/pump

I saw theother day I think It was an minimed style monitor through apump that does continuous monitoring. It looks interesting. Id like to see the glucowatch really work or the new color changing patch..

The patch is in development.. it works like the color changing temperature guide through micro hair sampling.
The colors are coded so that when you see saya blue patch aea on the thing your below, red too hig or the word high shows up. It supposed ot be calibrated for high as a reading of above 180.. which is when you begin to create Ketones.
I am not sure what stage they are in, in development, but it seems to work better than sweat asparttate sampling.

I always check first thing in the morning & an hour or so before I go to bed. Every couple days or so I'll check before & two hours after meals to see how I'm doing. If I eat a new food I always check afterwards to see how it's affected my numbers.

I check my sugars when I wake up every morning. I have such a good diet that I know how to regulate my sugars well enough to the point where I Dont have to check so much through out the day.

Default Checking to know

Before I got my blood sugar under control after I lost a lot of weight, I used to check right upon waking. If the numbers were strange I'd check before and after meals and any time I felt "off".

Try and make a point of trying to listen to your body and how you feel just before checking your blood sugars. Don't just do it automatically. It's always a good idea to do a little mind body communication and try to know what your body is going through. Don't take it for granted that you'll always be near a meter to get results to know what's going on. Try to get to the point where you can almost recognize what your number feels like. It's just another way to keep healthy.

Default Body Signals

I agree, its best to get in tune with your body…..
For me, I can now tell when my Bgs are up and dropping just by the “ tingle” changes.
Neuropathy has one type of tingle and sugar fluctuation has another…….. body signals you kind get to know after years of making mental notes of how highs and m\ lows make you feel, and when you first start out, I found that keeping a log book with notes helps a lot!
For me, when i have strips and can afford them I check 3 amybe 4 times a day ona slow day. When I am ill I check very very often!

You also need to look at what is going on in your life when you decide how often to check.

If you have a lot of emotional turmoil going on, like trouble at work or home or school tests if you're younger, then you have to test very often to know how your body is reacting. Knowing your numbers can help you know what kind of shot to take (if you have been trained by your doctor to change your dosage) and know what kind of meals you should have.

Testing should then be done at specific times throughout the day in order to get a good idea of how you are doing. I also tried to take a moment to think about how I was feeling at different numbers.

If you knew that you were going to have a larger than usual snack at night, or if you were going out that night, you need to have an idea of your numbers so you don't go looking for any trouble.

It's good to have an everyday schedule, but still be flexible enough to take it more often than usual for safety's sake.

I never hated checking my numbers when I was alone, but when I was with someone, even a close friend, I'd feel shy about doing it in front of them.

But now that I am off all medication and my numbers always are normal, my doctor suggests I take it no more than once at different times about three times a week, or to follow my old schedule if I am feeling sick.

So far, my numbers have always been normal!

I check before meals and exercise and before I drive.
If I feel different I do also. I don't always feel the lows until they are really low anymore so it is good to check. If I am sick I check more.
I don't do the 2 hour after meal as much any more just because I don't have as many strips each month as I did. It used to be 8 -- 10 times and now it is usually 4-6 unless the low hangs on a long time and then I am checking until I hit normal numbers.
