These days there is a much greater use of donations in place of pointless gifts. Another example is if you are having a baby shower or wedding and are already really well set up and don't need the usual diapers and toasters--ask for dinations in the baby's name or instead of gifts. To not arrive empty handed guests bring a card with thier best wishes and a print out of their donations (see other people see if they were cheap)
