I am 16th generationdiabetic. everyone on my fathers sides both paternal and maternal side have/had diabetes. both insulin controlled and pill controlled. All of my family with the exception of my father( the doctor didnt change his treatment to insulin after he exhausted higher doseage stimulants) lived to very very old ages with diabetes. My great grandfather being the longest. he died at 92 from an infection that the doctor didnt catch.

It is possible to live a very long and highly active life.
